This is Artemis of Ephesus, sister of Apollo and Goddess of Fertility. To me (Patty), she symbolizes all the generous nurturing the Universe offers to our need to create. All cultures and religions have myths and stories solidified into icons. They are visual representations of a concept that cannot quite be explained in words.
Whether or not we consider ourselves religious or spiritual we all have personal images that hold inexplicable meaning. For one friend of mine who had a very successful corporate career, the apple 🍎 is one – it signifies all the amazing technological advances in our lifetime, and all the unimaginable yet to come.
The watermelon is a grounding and happy icon for me- it symbolizes 4th of July parties on my roof when my children were young, everyone gathered around the watermelon punch my cousins would make.
So whether your icons are serious or fun, pay attention to them and allow them to feed you. Icons resonate deep with in us, to a place where we feel seen, appreciated, and supported.
Ask yourself-
What icons are important to me? Do they empower me?
Do I allow them to speak to me, uphold me?
Do I know anyone who shares the same feelings about a particular icon?
Enjoy the fruits of summer, and your own personal icon! Patty & Suzanne
