“Nature matters to people. Big trees and small trees, glistening water, chirping birds, budding bushes, colorful flowers … these are important ingredients in a good life”
The Biophillia Hypothesis
As we emerge from winter, many of us feel called to get outside – in the sun, in the rain, on the green grass. And believe it or not, this is part of developing a conscious, creative life. The changing of the seasons, the returning of GREEN, flowers budding and blooming, all nurture us and remind us that life is ongoing – we are not as stuck as we may have thought! All things change and recycle and we can, too.
Even if you are surrounded by concrete in a big city, please notice the nature around you – changing clouds and weather, trees leafing out, grass cracking the sidewalk. Perhaps a window box of herbs. In spite of the political and social horrors we are surrounded by, life goes on and we too can be a part of nature’s renewal.
You may have childhood memories of your joy in nature that you can calm yourself with before sleep – swinging in the fresh air, jumping in piles of leaves, picking fresh fruit, swimming in a clean lake, the smells at the Farmer’s Market. The inter-connectedness of all living things is one of the lessons nature offers us – revel in it!
Ask yourself –
In this busy techno world it is easy to ignore nature – where might you let it in?
Nature requires us to slow down, take a breath and open our senses – what are your favorite sounds, smells, textures, colors?
How might you enhance your relationship with nature – how can you let it feed you, how can you take care of it?
Please share your favorite nature space with us! Patty & Suzanne
I loved the 4 seasons growing up in Yosemite. Just like your email spoke about the changing of the seasons, now spring and so beautiful! Every season has something remarkable to look at. I especially how my mood changes going from spring to fall and into winter. Going inward and slowing down
This season is especially beautiful and the drive from Santa Cruz to Ojai is pretty unreal with all the poppies and yellow weeds popping up and grass so green! Yes spring is here !
