The Full Moon

The full moon this weekend was incredibly beautiful and the evening sky here was crystal clear. The kind of night that invites moonlit walks, romance under the stars, or visions of Santa and the reindeer flying in silhouette by the light of the moon.

It seems this time of year brings on a kind of hysteria about gift giving, holiday preparations, time spent with friends and family, reflections of the past year. And then there are always the stories of past holiday get-togethers that didn’t go as planned, and usually get told with more drama and humor after a couple of cocktails. I do have to admit to enjoying some of those tales and telling a few myself!

So, what’s the connection between the full moon and the holiday rush? They seem to be totally random and disconnected. Well, these may appear to be random thoughts but maybe not.

When I took note of that amazing moon, and the nightscape it created, I purposely wanted to pause, breathe, slow down and savor the beauty. I realized that there have been lots of full moons this year, but how many did I really stop and enjoy? What was I doing that was more important than taking a moment to appreciate the mystery and constancy of such a generous gift from the universe? A gift that I’ve overlooked too often in my life.  Sometimes it’s the simple gifts that are most meaningful.

Our creativity and our energy to be creative need replenishment from time to time just like our souls do. What replenishes you? It’s easy to find things to keep busy, but is it so easy to find ways to slow down?

Hoping that you give yourself the gift to pause, breathe and find ways to nurture yourself.  Invite some quiet spaces that allow for ideas to blossom and for your spirit to reconnect with your creativity.

We’ll be back in January with renewed zest, Liz and Dharma have been enjoying the holidays and creating new stories, and all of us are now pausing to nurture our souls.  Looking forward to the next full moon inspiration!
